TUM and AOK Bayern launch BaLko health app for teachers
The Technical University of Munich and health insurance provider AOK Bayern have completed a three-year collaborative project called BaLko, resulting in a new app designed to help teachers protect and improve their health. The app was developed based on a survey of more than 1,400 teachers in Bavaria, which identified health-related challenges including mental health concerns and stress management. Researchers created personalized health profiles incorporating factors such as health literacy and work-life boundaries, and developed tailored resources including exercises, guided reflection, and video-based content. The BaLko app is available for free download on iOS and Android and provides brief health exercises and activities teachers can complete during the school day.
