KIT builds new AI data center with 24 million euros funding
The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology is constructing a new data center for artificial intelligence and scientific computing with 24 million euros in funding from the federal government and Baden-Württemberg. The facility will initially provide around two megawatts of electrical output, expandable to ten megawatts, and will use waste heat via heat pumps to heat campus buildings and reduce fossil fuel reliance. Construction is expected to begin soon and be completed by the end of 2029, with first computers becoming operational in 2030.
