TUM astrophotography students photograph solar eclipse for scientific data
Students in an astrophotography seminar at Technical University of Munich's Satellite Geodesy and Astronomical and Physical Geodesy professorships observed and photographed a partial solar eclipse as part of their coursework. The instructors stated the eclipse provided "an opportunity to collect scientific data and test the limits of our equipment" and served as preparation for larger projects planned for coming years. Students in the elective course learn to combine astronomical observations with scientific methodology, defining their own research questions and presenting results in a final project.
