KIT Participates in Five NFDI Consortia Funded with EUR 71 Million
The German federal and state governments have funded ten consortia in the second National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI) funding round with approximately EUR 71 million through 2028, with the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) participating in five consortia managing data from environmental sciences, materials research, and fundamental physics. The NFDI4Earth consortium provides centralized access to climate and environmental data; DAPHNE4NFDI preserves long-term datasets from photon and neutron research facilities; NFDI-MatWerk establishes common standards for materials research data exchange; FAIRmat operates the NOMAD platform to support data-driven materials research; and PUNCH4NFDI develops infrastructure for particle physics and astroparticle physics research. The German federal and state governments have also decided to continue funding the NFDI in the long term as central research infrastructure.
